Hours Tracker is local-first. It has no account system, advertising, analytics, telemetry, location collection, or crash-reporting service.
Work records remain on your device unless you deliberately export or back them up. The optional one-time Pro purchase is processed by Google Play.
1. Operator and contact
Hours Tracker is provided by R-Think Pty Ltd ("R-Think", "we", "us"), an Australian company based in Adelaide, South Australia. Privacy questions can be sent to support@rthink.co.
2. Information stored by the app
The app may store the information you enter or generate, including:
- job and optional client names, notes, colours, rates, and currencies;
- shift start and end times, time zones, breaks, corrections, and review flags;
- calculated durations and expected gross pay;
- pay-period, display, onboarding, and default-job settings;
- a local Pro-entitlement cache containing the product ID, confirmation time, and confirmation source; and
- the date your 14-day trial began, so the app can tell when it ends.
This information is stored in the app's private storage on your device. R-Think does not receive it. The entitlement cache does not contain a Google Play purchase token, payment-card details, your name, or your address.
Android cloud backup and standard device-to-device transfer are disabled for the app. Device manufacturers or tools operating outside Android's standard backup mechanism may behave differently and are outside the app's control.
3. Exports and app-managed backups
CSV/PDF export and app-managed backup happen only when you request them. Android's document picker lets you choose the destination. The selected storage or sharing provider then handles that file under its own privacy and security terms.
Backup files contain your jobs, work records, and product settings, not review eligibility or purchase-entitlement preferences. They are checksummed and sealed to detect damage and deter casual reading. The unsealing key is included in the app, so the seal is obfuscation rather than a confidentiality guarantee. Keep backups only in a location you trust. Deleting data inside Hours Tracker does not delete copies that you previously exported or backed up.
Before a restore, the app keeps up to three app-private recovery copies on the device. They are removed by Delete all data or when the app is uninstalled.
4. Google Play purchases and optional reviews
Hours Tracker includes Google Play Billing for the optional one-time Pro purchase. The library connects to Google Play to retrieve the local price, start a purchase, acknowledge it, and check whether the current Google account owns it. During those operations Google may process account, device, network, purchase, and diagnostic information under Google's Privacy Policy and Google Play terms.
The app receives a purchase token transiently when Google reports a purchase and uses it to acknowledge that purchase. It does not persist the token or send it to R-Think. R-Think currently operates no purchase-verification server and receives no purchase record from the app. Payment credentials, receipts, taxes, refunds, and the authoritative purchase record are handled by Google Play.
The app requests internet and network-state access for this billing integration. Work records are never attached to billing requests.
After sufficient use, Hours Tracker may show an optional invitation to leave an honest review. You can also open this invitation from More. Only tapping “Rate on Google Play” opens the app's Play listing; showing or dismissing the invitation does not contact a review service. There is no in-app review SDK. Google handles any rating or review you submit on Google Play under its own terms and privacy policy. Production reviews are public; test-track feedback may instead be private. You can manage or delete your review through your Google account. The app does not receive your chosen star rating or review text and does not attach work records or local eligibility dates to the listing link.
The app stores a first-use timestamp, up to three local dates on which you saved completed shifts, and a flag preventing repeated automatic rating requests. This bookkeeping stays on the device and is not included in app-managed backups. Delete all data clears the timestamp and dates but retains the suppression flag. Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes it.
5. Notifications and other permissions
If you allow notifications, Hours Tracker can show the active shift and timer actions. Notification content is generated from local app state. The app also receives Android boot and package-replaced events so it can reconstruct that optional notification from its durable local record. It does not run a location tracker, background tick loop, or foreground service.
6. Support communications
If you email support@rthink.co, R-Think receives your email address and whatever information you choose to include. We use it to answer the request, investigate a problem, maintain necessary business records, and prevent abuse. Do not send work records or other sensitive information unless it is necessary. Support messages are retained only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes and legal obligations.
7. Retention, export, and deletion
App data remains on your device until you edit it, delete it, use Delete all data, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. Delete all data removes jobs, shifts, breaks, settings, running-timer state, and app-private recovery copies. It preserves the local purchase entitlement and your trial date, so deleting work data does not take away a purchase or restart a trial. Uninstalling or clearing app storage removes that local cache; Restore purchase asks Google Play whether the current account owns Pro.
There is no R-Think server account or server-side work-data record to export or delete. Google Play purchase data is managed through your Google account. Files exported to another provider must be deleted through that provider.
Depending on where you live, privacy law may give you additional rights concerning support information held by R-Think. Contact us to exercise them. We may need enough information to verify and process the request.
8. Security
We use Android app-private storage, disable cleartext network traffic, limit exported components and permissions, and validate imported backups before replacing data. No storage method is perfectly secure. Protect your device and exported files, and keep your own backup of records you cannot afford to lose.
9. Children and international use
Hours Tracker is a general work-record utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect children's information through the app. Support communications may be processed in Australia and by the email infrastructure used to receive them. Google processes billing information under its own global terms and privacy policy.
10. Changes
We may update this policy when the app, service providers, or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will be published at the canonical URL. Material changes will also be described through an appropriate in-app or store notice where required.
